The smear test aims to detect changes in the cervix (neck of the womb) before they become dangerous so that they can be treated.
Patients who receive a letter of invitation to attend for a smear should ask to make an appointment with one of the practice nurses in normal surgery time.

The practice nurses hold four immunisation sessions each month and a doctor is available for advice as required.
Invitations to attend are sent automatically by the Health Authority who maintain the database of childhood immunisation information.

Full maternity services are provided by the midwives attached to the surgery with the support of the doctors.
The midwives look after you throughout your pregnancy. They offer full antenatal and postnatal care, birthing classes and breastfeeding workshops.
After a positive pregnancy test, please complete a new pregnancy referral form (available from reception, or by clicking here) and arrangements will be made for a midwife to contact you and make an initial booking appointment.

In addition, Dr Richard Hughes is accredited to perform selected extended minor surgery procedures.
If your doctor feels it is necessary you will be asked to make an appointment with Dr Hughes in the extended minor surgery clinic which is held on Wednesday evenings.
It is recommended that all at-risk patients attend once a year. The clinic offers life style advice, a blood pressure check, blood tests - an ECG will be performed if necessary
The practice provides a free travel clinic offering all major vaccines currently recommended, including Yellow Fever. You may be charged for certain travel vaccines. First Aid kits specifically designed for overseas travel are available
If you take warfarin and need to have an INR check this can be done at the INR clinics on Monday and Tuesday between 8:45am - 10am.

This is held every Thursday between 3:30 - 4:30 pm and young people who need treatment or advice about sexual health, contraception, eating disorders, drugs, counselling or general health are welcome to see either the doctor or practice nurses
No appointment is necessary and patients are seen in turn as they arrive
