Breast screening
There is a recall system in place for women to attend the mobile breast-screening unit when it visits Glastonbury. Women aged between 50-70 years of age are called at 3 yearly intervals. If you require more frequent screening please discuss this with your doctor.

Cervical smears

New Screening intervals will be:

  • No routine screening for women under the age of 25
  • Women aged 25-49 will be screened every 3 years
  • Women aged 50-64 will be screened every 5 years

Women already in the system will remain on the old screening interval until after their next smear.

The smear test aims to detect changes in the cervix (neck of the womb) before they become dangerous so that they can be treated.

Patients who receive a letter of invitation to attend for a smear should ask to make an appointment with one of the practice nurses in normal surgery time.
