There is a new information sheet for patients explaining all about unscheduled bleeding on MHT and what to do about it.
This includes a chart showing the various possible doses of oestrogen and the corresponding dose of progestogen to make sure the lining of the womb is protected. This guide applies to all women, not just those with unscheduled bleeding.
If you are on the maximum suggested dose of oestrogen e.g. the estradiol 100mcg patch or equivalent, you can discuss your options with your doctor. These include:
- reducing your oestrogen dose slightly
- increasing your micronised progesterone
- changing to a different progestogen e.g the combined patch
- changing to the 52mg levonorgestrel IUD (e.g. the Mirena or Levosert)
