Chaperone

About Chaperones

A chaperone is a trained staff member present during an examination to assist with your comfort.

When a Chaperone is Offered

We are committed to providing a safe, comfortable environment where patients and staff can be confident that best practice is being followed at all times. All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination, or procedure. Additionally, clinicians may ask for a chaperone to be present during your consultation.

How to Request a Chaperone

Please inform reception when booking your appointment or upon arrival. You may also request one at any point during your appointment.

What You Can Expect

Your chaperone will be a trained member of staff who is sensitive to your dignity and confidentiality.

If a Chaperone is Unavailable

If a staff member is not available, your clinician may ask to reschedule. While you may bring a friend or relative, a staff member may still be required to act as a formal chaperone.
