Across the UK, the need for appointments with a GP is far greater than the number of appointments available. Glastonbury Surgery is no exception. To address this we offer a balance of same day and book ahead appointments with the doctors, and same day appointments with the nurse practitioners.
When you contact the surgery for an appointment the receptionist will ask for some brief information about why you are calling. They may advise you of alternative services that could be more appropriate for your needs, for example redirection to Pharmacy or the Minor Injuries Unit. For all same day appointment requests you will be asked for some information about why you need an appointment – this is essential for the clinician to prioritise your care.
We closely monitor our appointment booking process and regularly review to ensure that it is achieving the goals and expectations that we have set.
